The purpose of this study is to reconsider the theory of Lee Gyeong-seok regarding the history of Korean Yusul(Yudo) under the US military ruling era in a way of displaying its implications. For this purpose, this article analyzes the ‘Historic Contemplation Regarding Our Yusul(Yudo)’ that he drafted in 1948. In addition, the analysis is made on the basis of pertinent bibliographic data and newspaper articles as well as quoting the advance studies, and the result is shown as follows. The foundation of the theory of Yusul(Yudo) history of Korea for Lee Gyeong-seok is 『Joseonmusayoungwung-jeon(Joseon Swordmen Hero Story)』of An Ja-san. He also introduced on skills beside the description of the Yusul(Yudo) history. Skills introduced by him is a translation of some main frame of Jujutsu(Judo) skills of Japan into the Korean language. In the process of translation, there was cooperation of Korean linguistic scholars, led by Lee Geuk-ro. With respect to establishing the Judo uniform, there was cooperation by the historians. However, there was no close review on the process of historic changes for the Yusul(Yudo) skills. The translation of the Jujutsu (Judo) skills of Japan into the Korean language was made as part of the Koreanization works, and it contains the nationalism awareness within. In this series of process, Lee Gyeong-seok and social leaders were under the mutually cooperative relations. In addition, as a mean to re-establish the Yusul(Yudo) history of Korea, part of Jujutsu(Judo) of Japan was partly utilized by Lee Gyeong-seok. This study is considered to be helpful in understanding the history of Korean Yusul (Yudo) during the US military ruling era, and has the implication in providing a clue to re-contemplate the history of Yusul (Yudo) development of Korea.
