초록
Chronic eating inhibition utilizes self-regulatory resources, leading to disinhibition. Present study examined the effect of inhibitory control training (ICT) for food among restrained eaters. 400 university students were assigned to eating groups (restrained eater, unrestrained eater) by upper and lower 25% according to restraint scale, and randomly assigned to control training condition (food-Go, food-Nogo). ICT adjusted Go/Nogo task, responding (Go) toward food stimuli on food-responding condition and inhibiting response (Nogo) toward food stimuli on food-non responding condition. Implicit association test was conducted before and after the ICT to check implicit association of food and response inhibition and to examine if this association could prevent waste of self-regulatory resource, participants were inhibited from attempting food, and before and after this, hand grip task was conducted. Finally, participants freely consumed food to check disinhibition. As a result, implicit association of food and inhibition increased in food-Nogo condition among restrained eaters. Both eating group showed less waste of self-regulatory resource and controlled disinhibition in food-Nogo condition. This suggests that ICT implicitly induce food response inhibition among restrained eaters, helping with dysfunctional eating behaviors.
