한국 여성의 초혼연령과 교육, 출산: 1975년 인구총조사 자료를 이용한 분석
초록
The sample survey of the 1975 Population and Housing Census of Korea collected the age-at-marriage of married individuals older than 15 years of age. Using the 1% sample micro data of the 1975 Census, the long-run trend of Korean women’s age at first marriage is estimated, and the effect of the age-at-marriage on education and fertility is examined. The result shows that the distribution of women’s age at first marriage moved upward fast for those born after 1930. More educated women were likely to get married later, and women’s late marriage led to a decrease in the total lifetime fertility. However, women’s late marriage was also associated with a shorter average birth spacing, a shorter time-interval between marriage and first childbirth, and an extension of the age of last childbirth. These findings are consistent with the result of the existing literature.
