초록

Humeans have appealed to ‘intelligibility argument’ and ‘ontological economy argument’ in order to defend their metaphysical picture against the anti-Humean pictures according to which there are some kinds of necessary connection between distinct facts in our world. In this paper, I argue that the ontological economy argument is not successful. If the intelligibility argument is successful, I claim, the ontological economy argument becomes redundant. By contrast, if the intelligibility argument fails, I argue, the apparent attractiveness of the ontological economy argument disappears.
