湘南土話 影疑母字 성모의 특성

Ying(影) initial and Yi(疑) initial are completely different initials within the phonological system of 『切韻』, which represents the Mid-ancient Chinese. However, in modern Chinese dialects, the characters of Ying(影) initials and Yi(疑) initials appear in a very complex and diverse form, either merging or separating depending on the conditions of rhyme. In this paper, I analyzed the characters and types of Ying(影) initial and Yi(疑) initial in 湘南土話, a long-standing local dialect in the southern region of Hunan Province. According to my observation, the characters of Ying (影) and Yi(疑) initials in 湘南土話 have certain differences from the general southern dialects. The reason is that, there are a number of exceptional phenomena that cannot be grouped together. 湘 南土話 is a regionally weak dialect, most people whose mother tongue is 湘南土話 live a bilingual life. 湘南土話 is used only within the house or village level, and in public places (workplace, market, or public social setting), the local dialect Guanhua(官話) is mostly used. Also, there are many cases where residents who speak the 湘 dialect, the 贛 dialect, or the 客家 dialect live together in the same area. Therefore, it can be said that 湘南土話 is in an environment where it can be easily influenced by the surrounding dialects. I judged that the unique characteristics of 湘 南土話 Ying(影) and Yi(疑) initials would be relevant to this situation, and I tried to clarify the nature of the characteristics of 湘南土話 Ying(影) and Yi(疑) initials by comparing it with the surrounding dialects. Through comparative analysis, the following conclusions could be drawn. 湘 南土話 Ying(影) and Yi(疑) initials show characteristics similar to the 客家 dialect in front of 開口呼, and similar to the 湘 and 贛 dialects in front of 合口呼, 齊齒呼 and 撮口呼. However, the tendency for some Ying(影) and Yi(疑) initial to be merged in front of the 開口呼 is similar to the 湘 and 贛 dialects, and the situation in which some (or many) Ying(影) and Yi(疑) initials are still separated in front of the 合口呼 is similar to the 客家 dialect. The reason why 湘南土話 Ying(影) and Yi(疑) initials have a complex pattern different from that of the surrounding dialects can be explained as a result of the long period of influence of the neighboring strong dialects as a weak regional dialect.
