거주지에 따른 자산 격차에 관한 연구 -주택 보유여부를 중심으로-

초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the dynamic aspects of regional disparities in household net wealth in South Korea. In this study, the changes of household net wealth have been investigated among the two groups: people who have lived in the SMA(Seoul Metropolitan Area) and people who had lived in non-SMA during the case study period. The regional net wealth disparities between the two were analyzed using the Korean Labor & Income Panel Study(KLIPS) from 1998 to 2019. The particular attention has been paid to the home ownership and its impact on the accumulation of household net wealth. The results of the study showed that people who lived in SMA have higher asset level than those of who lived in non-SMA. The asset gaps between two groups have widened according housing ownership. The empirical findings of this study clearly showed that the level of assets is relatively higher for the owner of the house. However, further analysis that compares net assets of non-home owning households, the residents of SMA have achieved greater level of net wealth than those of non-SMA, indicating the place of residence itself has an important impact of the accumulation of net wealth.
