초록

In this paper, I argue that once we transform the debate concerning free will that has been based on the notion of causation into one that is based on that of explanation, it becomes much more difficult to justify libertarian accounts of free will. According to the “explanation based approach,” what is important in free will debate is not whether I caused my actions but whether my actions happened because of me. I argue that libertarianism, whether it is based on agent causation or on event causation, cannot show the required explanatory relation between an agent and her actions.
