세대-순수논쟁의 발단과 전개 과정에 대한 고찰 - 1930년대 유진오와 김동리의 논쟁을 중심으로
초록
This paper was written with the purpose of examining the origin and development process of the ‘generation-purity debate’ that developed in the 1930s, and the process of establishing Kim Dong-ri’s theory of pure literature, while examining the core of his literary world. The origin of the ‘generation-purity debate’ was expressed in the dissatisfaction of newcomers to the evaluation of established critics at the 「New Artists Conference」 in January 1939. This beginning developed as a confrontation between a newcomer and an established critic, and it was decisively caused by the influence of journalism at the time. Yu Jin-oh refuted Kim Dong-ri’s 「literary idol」 through the article 「Aim for innocence」, and the ‘generation-purity debate’ became more full-fledged. Yoo Jin-oh refuted the newcomers about ‘concerns of the times’, ‘word dispute’, and the definition and problems of ‘purity’, and Kim Dong-ri repeatedly raised objections through an article titled ‘Objection to ‘pure’’, expressing his innocence. He laid the groundwork for systematizing and establishing literary theories. The ‘literary spirit’ claimed by Yu Jin-oh was the spirit of advocating humanity, and this word humanity was a concept that contained historicity and reality, but Kim Dong-ri recognized and accepted it as a concept far from it. For Dong-Ri Kim, ‘literary spirit’ was to pursue a spectacle as a creative principle that emphasized the subjective world view of the writer. Later, Kim Dong-ri systematized and established the theory of pure literature through a series of ‘generation-purity debates’. It was based on the creative principle of ‘pursuit of scenery’.
