Effects of choral activities of college nursing students on sociality, stress, empathy, self-efficacy and emotional stability

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of chorus activity experience of nursing students on their sociability, stress, empathy, self-efficacy and emotional stability. Subjects of this study were 30 nursing students that participated in chorus in a university located in areas ‘S’. The chorus activities were conducted 10 March 2016-30 December 2016. The chorus members practiced individually, and they practiced harmonies one-two times a week. The general characteristics related to chorus activity were analyzed by frequency analysis, and the difference between the research variables during pre- and post-chorus activity was analyzed by paired t-test. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the chorus activity and sociability, self-efficacy, emotional stability. Based on results of this study, advantages of chorus activity on nursing students should to be analyzed, and further studies are encouraged to reflect those beneficial effects of chorus activity on their extra-curricular activities. © Rushing Water Publishers Ltd. 2018.
