유산소운동유형이 여성노인의 BDNF 및 대뇌피질에 미치는 영향

Effects of Aerobic Exercise Style on BDNF and Cerebral Cotex of Elderly Females

초록

This study aims to investigate the effects of aerobic exercise style on BDNF and cerebral cortex of elderly females. Twenty six healthy elderly females (right-handed) who have no history of neurologic disease, cardiovascular disease, orthopedic disease and who are not on medications were randomized into four groups: control group (n=6), cylcling group (n=7), walking group (n=7), and combined exercise group (n=6). Each group except for control group conducted aerobic exercise programs for 12 weeks. After aerobic exercise, BDNF was increased the most in walking group, secondly in combined exercise group, and lastly in cycling group. Each exercise group showed cerebral cortex activation in frontal lobe in common. In addition, walking group and combined exercise group showed activation in temporal lobe and corpus callosum. As a result, aerobic exercise gives positive effects on brain for elderly females, and the most effective aerobic exercise for elderly females is walking exercise in consideration of BDNF increase and brain activation.
