유아의 간접흡연관련 경험 및 흡연에 대한 인식 조사 연구

Young children’s second hand smoke experiences and perceptions of smoking

초록

The purpose of this study was investigating young children’s perceptions of smoking. For this purpose, 105 four-year-old children, 101 five-year-old children, and 102 six-year-old children were invited to participate in drawing session and interviewing. The results and discussions of this study were as follows. First, young children had considerable secondhand smoking experience from his or her family and especially from his or her father above all. Second, six-year-old children thought more positively about smokers’ feelings. Meanwhile, more than half young children considered that the first smoking attempt could be occurred even less than 10 years of age and quite a number of children thought that it would be motivated by their family and their curiosity. Third, almost all children expressed negative feelings about smoking. Six year-old children recognized realistic problems that smoking could cause illness such as lung cancer or heart disease. Fourth, a majority of the young children did not intend to smoke in the further.
