Purpose: This research aims to analyze the work stress experienced by kindergarten dance teachers in our country, highlighting the need for systematic improvements to enhance the teaching experiences of both teachers and students. Methods: A qualitative research approach was utilized, involving in-depth interviews with three kindergarten dance teachers in China. Participants were selected based on their extensive experience and involvement in dance education. Data collection was conducted through unstructured interviews to ensure the flexibility and openness of the discussions. The analysis involved categorizing the data into themes related to the sources of work stress and its impact on teachers. Result: The study identified two major sources of work stress: stress related to the teaching environment and stress related to career development. Teachers reported significant stress due to issues in communicating with children and high expectations from parents. Additionally, the pressure to maintain high-quality lessons amidst these challenges leads to physical and emotional fatigue. Concerns were also highlighted regarding inadequate salary and limited opportunities for career advancement, contributing to apprehensions about insufficient professional development. Conclusion: The study calls for comprehensive strategies from the guides, including providing opportunities for career development, improving communication channels between instructors, parents, and management, and offering better compensation and career advancement opportunities. By addressing these sources of stress, the quality of dance teaching and the well-being of instructors can be improved, contributing to the goal of enhancing arts education in China.
