On the positivity and zeros of Lommel functions: Hyperbolic extension and interlacing

We obtain for the Lommel functions of the first kind a hyperbolic region of positivity, thereby extending earlier results of R.G. Cooke and J. Steinig. In addition, we prove that the zeros of Lommel functions for a large class of parameters are interlaced with those of Bessel functions. (C) 2018 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
