초록
This study objectively analyzed research trends in adapted physical education for individuals with developmental disabilities using topic modelling. We collected a broad range of domestic and international research articles on this topic and applied data preprocessing and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) to identify 12 latent topics. The findings revealed that research in adapted physical education for developmental disabilities encompasses diverse themes, including physical health and fitness improvement, social skill development and behavioral intervention, inclusive education, and teacher competency. An inter-topic distance visualization indicated that similar topics form discernible clusters. An hierarchical topic analysis indicated that topics can be grouped into higher-order categories, such as physical development, psychosocial development, and education or policy. Visualization of key terms highlighted frequently occurring words like “exercise,” “program,” “effect,” and “health,” with strong associations observed among terms like “inclusion” and “social.” Based on these results, this study discusses current research trends and suggests future research directions in the field of special physical education for developmental disabilities. This study provides valuable insights by objectively mapping the landscape of adapted physical activity literature, thereby providing information for future research and practice in sports and special education for individuals with disabilities.
