초록
This study categorizes public conflict resolution methods into two types: government intervention and stakeholder-based resolution. It analyzes the factors influencing citizens’ preferences for these approaches, with particular attention to conflict types such as environmental conflicts, ideological conflicts, labor-management conflicts, intergovernmental conflicts, wealth inequality conflicts, and education-related conflicts. The findings reveal that trust in government significantly affects resolution preferences across all conflict types. Specifically, higher levels of government trust are associated with a preference for swift resolution through government intervention rather than stakeholder negotiation. In addition, perceptions of the necessity of civic group involvement exert a significant influence in ideological, wealth inequality, and education- related conflicts. Respondents who perceive civic group involvement as necessary are more likely to prefer stakeholder-based solutions over government intervention. Political ideology also exerts a meaningful impact in ideological, intergovernmental, wealth inequality, and education-related conflicts, with more conservative respondents tending to prefer government intervention for rapid resolution. These results suggest that tailored approaches to conflict resolution are required depending on conflict characteristics. Moreover, the study highlights the importance of enhancing governmental trust and strengthening the mediating role of civic organizations through supportive policies.
