As artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly developing, various social and ethical issues are also being raised. Accordingly, active discussions are taking place in academia and industry. This study collected news articles from major domestic media outlets and identified major topics being discussed in relation to AI ethics through latent dirichlet allocation (LDA), a representative topic modeling algorithm. As a result of analyzing news data published for approximately 1 year and 6 months in the first half of 2023, the second half of 2023, and the first half of 2024 through topic modeling, it was found that the topics being discussed are changing and becoming more specific over time, such as (1) establishing the foundation for AI ethics, (2) AI ethics education and new business possibilities, and (3) the application of AI and the emergence of practical issues. This change in topics over time suggests that continuous observation and insight into related topics are necessary in establishing an AI ethics framework. This study also contributes to creating a more ethical and safe AI ecosystem by proposing various future policy directions.
