A 50mW Low power 2-channel 15-17GHz Receiver with 6.0 dB NF for Ku Band FMCW Radar

This paper presents a two-channel receiver for a 15–17 GHz FMCW radar system, implemented in a 65-nm CMOS process. Each channel includes a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA), passive mixer, and Analog Baseband (ABB) circuit. The LNA utilizes a large input transistor and a reduced gate inductor to achieve a 3.0 dB noise figure with 23 dB gain over a 14.5–19 GHz bandwidth. The passive mixer downconverts RF signals to a maximum 20 MHz intermediate frequency. The ABB adopts a DC coupled Class-AB OP amp architecture, providing 0–53 dB gain and tunable HPF/LPF ranges of 50–750 kHz and 0.75–24 MHz, respectively. The receiver consumes 50 mW per channel and achieves an overall noise figure of 6.0 dB.
