국내 디자인학 연구자의 저작 패턴 및 연구 분야에 대한 융복합적 분석

초록

Among several sub-areas of ‘Arts & Kinesiology’, ‘Design’ is one of the most active research sub-areas in Korea. However, the existing efforts to investigate the overall research trends of Korean ‘Design’ are still lacking. The existing literature limited to a few research topics, are too old to reflect the recent trends and did not analyze fully-fledged samples although its research purposes were to examine the overall ‘Design’ research trends. This article attempts to fill some of those gaps in the literature and demonstrates various properties of Korean ‘Design’ researchers and collaboration patterns. To accomplish the research purpose to analyze the properties of Korean ‘Design’ researchers and the collaboration patterns, this study analyzed more than 17,000 target articles published in 17 KCI accredited journals and about 13,600 researchers through various bibliometric analysis methods. The analysis of authorship distribution by articles showed that Korean ‘Design’ research tended to reinforce the collaborations because the number of articles written by collaboration was higher than the number of articles written by sole-author. Besides, the degree of openness of ‘Design’ research demonstrated that until 2011, the openness was in the track of increase with the average of 70%; however, from 2012, the openness had been dropped to the average of 61%. Lastly, Korean ‘Design’ researchers have scholarly connections with a variety of disciplines beyond the ‘Design’ – from ‘Architecture,’ ‘Interdisciplinary Studies,’ ‘Life Science,’ ‘Arts,’ and even ‘Engineering,’ ‘Sciences,’ and ‘Social Sciences and Humanities’. It may be caused by the increasing societal and cultural importance of ‘Design’ and the economic impact. The main contribution of this study is that it is the first endeavor to show and explain meaningful authorship properties and collaboration patterns of the Korean ‘Design’ research in a large scale.
