The purpose of this research was to study the effectiveness of the cultural and artistic education conducted in juvenile training schools. Quasi-experimental designs of cultural and artistic education programs were administered to an experimental group and a control group at the point of pre-test and post-test of the program. The scores of the two were compared and analyzed through t-test and paired t-test. Insofar as the applicable analytical factors are concerned, experimental results showed that the experimental group had a statistically lower stress level than the control group, and also demonstrated a significantly higher level than the control group in terms of the factors of enjoyment, sociality, self-esteem, and preference to culture/art. On the other hand, the control group showed no statistically significant level of the enjoyment, sociality, self-esteem, self-control, stress, impulsivity, aggressiveness and the preference to culture/art. In other words, results suggested that cultural and artistic education at the juvenile schools improves students’ capacity for the enjoyment, sociality, self-esteem, preference for culture and arts, and lowered the stress level for juvenile school youth. Based on these findings, suggestions, future directions and limitations on the cultural and artistic education were made for juvenile schools.
