자본주의 리얼리즘과 문학－ 임성순의 ‘회사 3부작’을 중심으로

This paper studied on the ‘trilogy of the company’ by Lim Sungsoon through the concept of ‘capitalist realism’. Mark Fisher defined capitalism as a belief system that believes capitalism as the only reality. Lim Sungsoon’s works reveal the reality of capitalism and the ideology of capitalist realism. The consultant talks about the structural violence of capitalism, even making death service. Mun Kunyoung is dangerous reveals the schizophrenia of consumption capitalism through otaku and Hikikomori. There were a rather friendly persons exposes the unethical of organ sale and shows how body was operated like money in an abstract equivalent system. The flock and its predators in the corridor are exploiting capitalist realism by artificially deploying the power of capital that has dominated the art and ‘the real’ outside of capital. The ‘company’, which appears as a general noun in the works of Lim Sungsoon, means the capitalist structure itself and shows that everyone is a co-conspirator in this huge structure. This ‘company’ also reveals ‘bureaucracy’, the contradiction of capitalism. It is not the company but the ‘individual’ that is restructured in this bureaucratic society where there is no ultimate responsible person. In this ruthless capitalist structure, the dwarfed workers are only cynically compliant. Mun Kunyoung is dangerous is a B-class hybrid novel that combines reality and imagination on a plot of kidnapping drama. This novel, presented with historical facts, conspiracy theories, surplus information, advertising, games, cartoons, etc., reveals the world of simulacrum that breaks the boundaries between reality and imagination. This simulacre is a symptom of the schizophrenia of capitalism that disrupts the semantic chain of reality. Here, the distinction between real and virtual as well as between use and exchange value is no longer meaningful. Lim Sungsoon’s work focused the capitalist realism that there is no outside of capital. On the surface, it seems to consolidate this ideology, but criticizes it on the fundamental level. Criticism of capitalist realism means a desire for the restoration of post-capitalist imagination. There is a need for active thinking about how to de-territorialize in capitalist territory ‘capitalism = desire’.
