영상편집기자들의 뉴스 제작 경험과 개선 방안 인식 : 비릴리오의 드로몰로지와 피크노렙시 사유를 중심으로

초록

This study examines the news production experiences of Video Editing Journalists in the digital news environment and explores possible improvement strategies. The study employs Paul Virilio’s theoretical concepts of dromology and picnolepsy to analyze how speed-oriented news production influences the professional experiences of Video Editing Journalists. Using qualitative in-depth interviews, data were collected from 12 Video Editing Journalists working at major Korean broadcasting organizations. The findings reveal that participants experienced both positive and negative aspects in the news production process. On one hand, repeated exposure to shocking footage, time pressure, and breaking-news competition often produced sensory paralysis, in which cognitive reflection and ethical judgment become weakened. On the other hand, participants demonstrated attempts to resist mechanical speed by recognizing themselves as co-producers of news, seeking ways to restore their senses, and calling for institutional support. This study contributes to discussions on improving the digital news production environment by highlighting the ethical and psychological dimensions of Video Editing Journalists’ work.
