동시대 장애예술 공연에 나타난 수행성(Performativity) -「시선」과 「젠틀 유니콘」을 중심으로-

Analysis of Contemporary Disabled Arts Performance -Focused on Exposure and Gentle Unicorn-

초록

This study applies the concepts of “eventness” and “phenomenological body”, proposed by EricaFisher-Richte in her theory of aesthetics of performance. Using the study concepts it analyzes twoglobally active disabled choreographers’ dances; Jo Bannon’s Exposure (2011) and Chiara Bersani’sGentle Unicorn (2017).In Exposure, Bannon emphasized the eventuality of the performance in a way that explored the multilayeredmeaning of “seeing” on the premise of physical co-presence with the audience, based on hisalbism-related disabilities. Bersani, on the other hand, in Gentle Unicorn, revealed the phenomenologicalspecificity inherent in the disabled body as well as the body’s potential to liberate the existing concept ofdisability.
