문학텍스트의 회화적 재현: 샤갈의 『죽은 혼』 삽화 읽기

초록

The paper tries to explore the aesthetics of “Dead Souls” (1927), which are the series of copper etchings made by Marc Chagall. This paper is designed to check the poetic essence reflected on the illustrations and find out the relation between the literature text and the illustration medias. The paper focuses on all albums which are made with 96 etchings and the discussion is conducted in two ways. First, the depaysement principle exposed by Chagall’s illustrations is classified by the main motif for close checking. Second, the poetic meaning of the “Dead Souls” interpreted by Chagall will be checked in-depth to find out how Chagall interpreted the works by Nikolai Gogol.
