Background This study evaluated the clinical efficacy and safety of a low-molecular-weight collagen peptides (GPVGPS Collagen®) supplement in adults with damaged hair. The investigational product was obtained from the scales of Oreochromis niloticus via enzymatic hydrolysis. Methods A total of 100 adults (men and women aged 19–60 years) with mild-to-moderate hair damage were randomized to receive GPVGPS Collagen® (2,000 mg/day) or placebo once daily for 24 weeks. The primary endpoints were changes in hair luster and mechanical properties at week 24 compared with baseline, along with safety assessments. Results Compared with placebo, the GPVGPS Collagen® group showed significant improvements in dermatologist-assessed and instrumentally measured (SAMBA) hair luster, hair shaft surface integrity, tensile strength, and diameter. Hair density and participant-reported satisfaction were also significantly greater in the treatment group. No safety-related adverse events were observed. Conclusion These findings demonstrate that daily GPVGPS Collagen® supplementation is clinically effective and safe for improving overall hair health, including luster, strength, thickness, and density.
