This review examines mulberry paper (MP) as an innovative material for flexible electronic devices and addresses the challenges associated with commercial paper-based supercapacitors. The unique mechanical and chemical properties of MP are highlighted, together with recent advances in its fabrication and applications. Special focus is placed on MXene composites, which demonstrate outstanding electrical conductivity and mechanical flexibility. These properties are ideal for EMI shielding, heating elements and supercapacitor applications. In addition, composites that incorporate AgNWs, CNTs and PEDOT enhance conductivity and serve as effective current collectors. These materials utilize electrical double-layer effects and pseudocapacitance to achieve high energy and power densities. Studies on ZnO nanoparticle-coated super hydrophobic MP highlight its versatility. Its super hydrophobic state enables protective applications such as wallpaper and window coverings. In contrast, its super hydrophilic state maximizes electrolyte contact, improves ion mobility and increases charge storage in supercapacitors. These findings underscore the significant potential of mulberry paper-based nanocomposites for commercialization in eco-friendly, next-generation energy storage and electronic devices.
