Scoops, which have been evaluated as the pinnacle of journalism, are composed of elements such as being first, originality, depth, reliability, and influence on social change. Due to the change in the environment of media digitalization, not only the coverage conditions but also the weight and value of each scoop element are affected. This study explored changing perception of scoops by local broadcasting journalists who are in relatively worse conditions due to digitalization. They have a similar perception of scoops according to the general standard of journalism, but express complaints about the portal news environment in which local articles are undervalued compared to Seoul media. However, many opinions were presented that in-depth reporting should be sought to realize locality, which is the basis for the existence of local broadcasting. In addition, they recognized that social change through solution journalism was a true scoop. Considering digitalization as an inevitable trend, many opinions have been confirmed that differentiation should be sought by innovation in coverage and reporting methods, and diversification of topics such as gender issues and human rights, reflecting the reality that breaking news has become more meaningless. The emergence of generative AI was also recognized as an opportunity to reaffirm the value of in-depth and investigative journalism, with accuracy and sincerity through reporters" on-site coverage. Local broadcasting journalists recognized that these changes should not be left to individual reporters, and that a systematic response at the broadcasting company level was necessary.
