재단법인 조선연무관 권법부의 설립과 전개 양상 연구: 1945~1950년을 중심으로
초록
Propose This study aims to examine the establishment process and development of the Kwonbeopbu department of the Chosun Yeonmugwan Foundation, which experienced historical transitions such as the Japanese colonial period, the Liberation of Korea, and the American military regime. Method The research method consists of historical documentary research using newspapers published at the time, Lee Kyung-seok's archives, literature, and previous studies. However, due to limitations in the literature, this paper focuses on the period from 1945 to 1950. Results The results are as follows. First, Lee Kyung-seok established the Kwonbeopbu Department of the Joseon Yeonmunkwan on 2 March 1946, and began to instruct trainees in Kwonbeop, judging their skills through the judgement of a panel, and strengthening their skills through seasonal training and performance competitions. Second, Lee Kyung-seok used the historicity of Kwonbeop to secure the tradition of the Kwonbeop after 1946. In particular, the name change from Tangsu and Gongsu to Kwonbeop was an option to deal with the crisis of the Japanese ban on martial arts. Third, an early master in the Kwonbeopbu department of the foundation was Jeon Sang-sup, who was hired by Lee Kyung-seok. It is not clear whether he taught traditional Korean Kwonbeop, Chinese Kwonbeop, or karate introduced under Japanese rule. Conclusion It is clear that the Kwonbeopbu Department of the Joseon Yeonmugwan Foundation was a new organisation created after the liberation of Korea. However, the historical development of the organisation makes it difficult to consider it as the parent organisation of modern Taekwondo.
