The effect of progressice resistance exercise on Osteocalcin or bone density in postmenopausal women.

초록

There are growing more and more interest in the welfare of the aged from each department of society along with an aging's problem as an society issue. Associating with this phenomenon, osteoporosis, give negative influence and function on women's independent lives, is the disease that induces the risk of fracture and complications. This study performed the resistance program of 11 postmenopausal women(age 55~61) for 16 weeks, analyzed the effect on osteocalcin and bone density(Lumbar 2-4, Femoral neck, Trochanter, Ward's Triangle) which present the bone metabolism, and conclude as follows. 1. While the bone density of Lumbar spine(Lumbar 2-4) was increased(p<.05), the one of femur(Femoral neck, Trochanter, Ward's Tiangle) was decreased. However, they had no statistical significance. 2. The progressive resistance exercise is considered to be highly effective one in maintaining and increasing of bone density which reduced the bone loss in the bone formation of postmenopausal women.
