초록

The purpose of this paper is to discuss a word-formation system including reduction form. For this theme, we considered the features and classified the type of reduction form with simple word, compound, phrase, blends. The type of reduction form -phonological reduction, phoneme deletion, clipping, acronym- was in the past but the restriction of word type weakened among new words these days and the methods of reduction form were diversified. And we regarded blends as a sort of compound because they cut and combine some or the whole of two components and then form a new meaning. We also distinguished between compound blends and derived blends according to the type of blends. Reduction form is classified not only simple word, compound but also blends in the same way as a existing word formation rule. The reduced form is also categorized independence base, dependence base, clipping affix according to the function.
