胡宏의 性體心用說 淺析

In Hu Hong’s Confucian thoughts, Xing(性) is an important notion. However, I think it is not proper interpretation for his philosophy to call it as Xingbenlun(性本論) or Xingxue(性學), because he has never suggested cultivation to Xing directly. I argue that Hu Hong’s theory of Xing should be considered as different type of Xinxingxue(心性學) with neo-confucian works, because of his core propositions like Xingtixinyong(性體心用), Jinxinchengxing(盡心成性). This new structure of Xinxingxue has succeeded the notion in Benti(本體) which is based on the Doctrine of Mean, Commentary on the Book of Changes through Jixinyanxing(卽心言性) which is logical form of Mencius. Therefore, the evaluation of this study is that Hu Hong’s theory has made a big contribution to the history of confucianism.
