초록

Nowadays, female sports player’s physical appearance has become a crucial means for them to enhance athletic performance as well as displaying physical shapes or looks that make fans go crazy. In this regard, female sports players try to improve their appearance. In order to carry out this study, Atheletes from 6 Korea Women's Basketball League that was registered in 2014 and 6 Korea women's volleyball team players altogether 176 people participated in the study. Focus on group interview which was carried out from June to August, 2014, and collected data of 159 respondents which was analyzed by using SPSS 21.0 program, except some problematic responses. Study findings are as follows; First, female pro player’s professional image, media exposure perception and appearance management behavior had effects on athletic performance. Second, regarding the effect of female pro player’s professional image, media exposure and appearance management on athletic performance, such media exposure perception and appearance management behavior as the management of hair and skin had significant effects on individual athletic performance. As the study shows that media exposure perception and appearance of Professional Women Athletes, especially management of their hair and skin care appeared to affect the individual performances a lot. A lot of professional women athletes wants to be remembered as a player that has a great skills combine with their pretty looks. If women's beauty pageant with a good exercise rather than exercise could well mean that a more positive impact on the performances. In short, if players manage their appearance at a moderate level, they will improve in athletic performance.
