Blockchain Technology for a Secure Environment

Blockchain technology has developed as a groundbreaking solution to the growing demand for enhanced security in an increasingly digital and interconnected world. As a highly valuable information shield, even if it still has the potential of minimizing cyber-threats and stopping data leaks, conventional security tools prove insufficient. Notably, this chapter seeks to outline how the fundamentals of the blockchain, including decentralization, immutability, and transparency, can best be leveraged to forge a more secure setup. The discussion begins with the fundamentals of blockchain and its intrinsic mechanisms that address security issues, employing cryptography and consensus algorithms. It then examines some real world uses across various industries which include financial, health, and supply chain industries, where blockchain is being used to safely store information, share information, and perform operations securely on it. However, the number of cases when the blockchain is employed on an industrial level increases every year; its uses in fraud detection, data, and all indicators in which assets safety is of crucial significance are discussed in the following sections. It should also be noted that this chapter is devoted to the problems of applying the specified technology and its implementations: scaling issues, a question of high energy consumption and legal questions. Finally, it evaluates potential scenarios and shares information about the use of blockchain with artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) in enhancing security systems. Hence, this chapter will employ a detailed investigation toward achieving the primary research question: What is the position of blockchain as one of the strongest antecedents that can be used to protect digital space?
