퍼실리테이터의 성장 과정 탐색: 비가시적 권력 대응의 근거이론적 접근

초록

The purpose of this study is to present the growth process of the facilitator as a theoretical model and to explore how the facilitator responds to invisible power. For this purpose, a qualitative study based on the grounded theory approach was conducted with 11 facilitators. The conclusions according to the study results are as follows. First, in the process of facilitator growth, the cognitive process of reflection as a facilitator, the emotional process of emotional empathy or support, and social interaction are integrated to respond to the conflict of invisible power and change into self, relationship, and facilitation. Second, the conflict response process of the facilitator appears as a cyclical structure that develops into a confirmation stage, a response stage, and a mediation stage, repeating resistance, compromise, and acceptance depending on the situation so that invisible power is not transferred to the participants. Third, the invisible power of the facilitator acts differently between the facilitator and the client, and between the facilitator and the participant. As the facilitator exercised power in the form of respect for the participant at the same time as controlling the activity, an emancipatory level of resistance appeared. In addition, while recognizing the power in the conflicting power relationship that has been fixed between the client agencies and the staff, they resisted or responded with compromise and acceptance. This creates a one-sided situation between the requesting organization or the main facilitator due to the unstable employment structure of the facilitator, and repeats a vicious cycle in which power is transferred from the requesting organization to the main facilitator and staff.
