데이터 무제한 요금제가 모바일 서비스 이용 행태에 미치는 영향

초록

This paper analyzes the panel data constructed from Korean media panel survey to gain implications as to how the unlimited data plan affects the usage of various mobile services. The estimation of panel model with fixed effects and time effects provides the results that subscription of unlimited data plan increases the viewing of mobile real-time broadcasting and increases usage of non-broadcasting mobile video service. In addition, subscriptions to unlimited data plans have reduced the use of traditional communications services such as voice and text services, while increasing the use of chat services. On the other hand, even though subscription of unlimited data plan increases the viewing of mobile broadcasting, it also increases TV viewing. This implies that the broadband wireless internet and reduction of data usage cost result in complementarity rather than substitution between smartphone and home TV in viewing broadcasting. These findings will have implications for the direction of future mobile services during the transition from 4G to 5G services.
