타린 사이먼(Taryn Simon) 작품에서 나타나는 정치와 예술의 융합 연구 - An American Index of the Hidden and Unfamiliar 작품을 중심으로 -

This study started from the transformation of the function of art in the 「An American Index of the Hidden and Unfamiliar」(2006) project, American documentary photographer Taryn Simon. After the Sept. 11 attacks, Simon explored and investigated some of the most political and secret places of her time, the United States. The photographer serves as a reminder to the acceptor of the work of art that he or she is unaware of in everyday life of the secret places and self-awareness of the political intention. Her interest is to capture the interaction of entropy, which is invisible by area, from government to science, from religion to security, from medicine to entertainment, and ultimately to what she wants. For this research, we tried to analyze hidden political aura of everyday functions such as American culture, science, history, politics, medicine, and entertainment that appeared in Simon's photographs. First, we discussed the medical, religious, scientific and cultural roles of the subjects in the work, scientifically, politically and aesthetically. Secondly, the project explores the aura of political and social indicators that were not found in existing photographic works and expresses them in an original and unique aesthetic way in a systematic and scientific approach. She also realized the politicization of art against the aestheticization of the politics of Walter Benjamin and used the medium of photography to express the relationship between reality and politics. The purpose of this study is a convergence study that presents the net functional role of art in proposing the positive development direction of society. Simon hopes that history is an organism that leads to politics and art, through her photographs, to transform art into a function in a political direction. And by providing simultaneous appreciation of American social and political indicators occupied by some minorities, it encourages changes in access and function of works of art. This is ultimately to expect Entritualisierung der Kunst through the interaction between the work and the acceptor.
