Optimized pump compensation of a BOTDA system with distributed Brillouin amplification

We demonstrate a BOTDA system based on optimized compensation scheme for the propagation loss of the pump pulse by distributed Brillouin amplification. Near-constant Brillouin gain is obtained in the distributed measurement of Brillouin frequency along 51 km optical fiber with 20 cm spatial resolution.
