Changes in Negotiations of the Denuclearization Process between the DPRK-US and the Korean Peninsula Situation: the South Government Roles as an ‘Equilibrium Mediator’ for the DPRK-US Relations

초록

In 2018, the Korean government's policy of dialogue and cooperation with North Korea and changes in North Korea's foreign policy have brought about rapid changes in the situation of the Korean peninsula. Through the 4.27 Panmunjom Declaration, 9.19 Pyongyang Joint Declaration, and 6.12 Singapore Joint Statement emphasize that the issue of the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula is involved in two Koreas and the United States. And these states should lead the transition from the end of the Korean peninsula to the peace regime. This study analyzes the negotiation process according to the changes of the North, the South, and America's three - party structure in 2018, focusing on ‘game theory’. In addition, we will look at the US policy toward the Korean peninsula and North Korea's foreign policy, and discuss strategies for negotiating the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. We will also discuss the role of the Korean government in the peace settlement of the Korean peninsula and the countermeasures to the North Korean nuclear disarmament negotiations.
