Brillouin dynamic grating in optical fibers and its applications

A novel kind of all-optical dynamic grating with the reflectance and the center wavelength controlled by other optical waves can be realized based on Brillouin scattering in optical fibers. The operation principle and the potential applications like an optically-tunable delay line and a high performance distributed sensor will be presented. ©2009 Optical Society of America.
