초록
This paper reviews the timing and the background of the writing of the diplomatic documents written by Choi Chiwon on behalf of the Silla king. There are nine diplomatic documents written by Choi Chiwon, which has been handed down to this day. These diplomatic documents were written by Choi Chiwon on behalf of two kings, King Jinseong and King Hyogong. As a result of reviewing the contents of the diplomatic documents, it could be understood that Five of the nine diplomatic documents, such as "Gigeapyo(起居表)" "Sasajoseayanghampyo(謝賜詔書兩函表)" "Yangwipyo(讓位表)" "Sachujeungpyo(謝追贈表)" and "Napjeongjeolpyo(納旌節表)"were sent by King Jinseong and Four copies, such as “Hajeongpyo(新羅賀正表)” “Sasawipyo(謝嗣位表)” “Saeunpyo(謝恩表)” and “Sabulhebukgukgeosangpyo(謝不許北國居上表) were sent by King Hyogong. Among them, it was concluded that the diplomatic document sent by King Jinseong was written after inheriting the throne, not during the reign of King Jinseong, that is, during the reign of King Hyogong. The reason why both the diplomatic documents sent by King Jinseong and King Hyogong were written in the reign of King Hyogong is interpreted due to the fact that the Tang emperor's diplomatic documents, which accepted request of King Jinseong to raise King Gyeongmun and King Heongang’s office higher, which arrived in Silla after King Jinseong handed over the throne.
