초록
The purpose of the study was to examine whether fitness participants' intention and actual exercise behavior could be predicted equally well by the theory of planned behavior. To accomplish the study purpose, data were collected from 147 members of a fitness club inside a college campus. The research hypotheses were developed based on the theory of planned behavior, which included three independent variables of attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control and dependent variable of behavioral intention and actual fitness exercise behavior. In the multiple regression model with behavioral intention as dependent variable found that attitude and subjective norm had significant influence on behavioral intention but perceived behavioral control did not. However, in the multiple regression model with actual fitness exercise behavior, none of the independent variables had statistically significant influence on the dependent variable. Thus, it can be concluded that theory of planned behavior was found to be a viable theory in predicting fitness exercise intention but not in predicting people's actual fitness exercise behavior.
