대학 글쓰기에서의 서평 교육 연구 - 학술적 글쓰기를 위한 서평 활용방안을 중심으로

초록

This study proposes book review writing as a method for teaching academic writing, using a case study at C University. First, the study examined how book reviews have been treated in academic writing education both inside and outside universities. Various methods were used, some of which were integrated with reading to facilitate critical analysis and others linked with speaking, with an emphasis on communication. In addition to these, some methods dealt exclusively with academic literature and theses, which treat book reviews as a way of communication inside academia. Although these methods have their own merits, for university freshmen with little to no experience in academic writing, book reviews needed to be an accessible method of teaching writing, with no external purpose other than the composition itself. If the focus is taken away from reading comprehension or communication, it is possible to use book review writing as a tool to teach the basics of academic writing by emphasizing the proper form required for university courses. The “form” here is the most fundamental format of argumentation, which serves as a foundation for writing academic papers.
