This study attempts to illuminate the factors affecting IS effectiveness from the perspective of IS manager leadership in Korean organizations. This study attempts to elucidate the interrelationships among transformational leadership, IS effectiveness, and organizational strategies. The paper not only provides quantitative evidence to describe IS effectiveness but also offers theoretical insights to explain how an IS manager’s organizational strategies can improve the effectiveness of IS. We collected data from IS managers at many Korean organizations. Due to the modest sample size, the study does not aim to present a representative frame of organizational information security measures but rather to explore the relationships between the implementation and effectiveness of the measures, which should be independent of sample size. This study showed that the transformational leadership of IS managers can improve the IS effectiveness of an organizational strategy. The transformational leadership of IS managers thus plays an important role in maintaining organizational security. © Research India Publications.
