서울YWCA 보건체육부의 설립과 활동(1959∼1961)

초록

This study explores the establishment and activities of the Seoul YWCA Health and Physical Education Department. Before its establishment, the YWCA lacked an independent sports organization, limiting its involvement to supporting sports activities by other departments. With the construction of a new building, the Health and Physical Education Department was founded, organizing a structured program. It aimed to enhance women’s mental and physical well-being, fostering interests and friendships through various initiatives. The department offered hobby classes for general women and professional courses for experts, along with free workshops. Collaborating with the Y-Teen Club, Youth Department, and Friendly Club, it worked towards improving the health of both members and staff.
