리튬 이온 전지용 ALD 기반 세라믹 코팅에 대한 리뷰: NCM 양극과 실리콘 음극을 중심으로

Review of ALD-Based Ceramic Coatings for Lithium-Ion Batteries: Focus on NCM Cathodes and Silicon Anodes

초록

With the commercialization of electric vehicles, research on lithium-ion batteries has become increasingly critical. However, current cathode and anode suffer from poor long-term cycling performance and limited stability. This is primarily due to interfacial degradation at the electrode-electrolyte interfaces, which leads to side reactions, impedance growth, and active material loss. To address these challenges, various approaches such as surface coating and doping have been actively explored. Among these, atomic layer deposition (ALD) has gained attention due to its ability to form high-quality thin films at low temperatures through self-limiting surface reactions. Thin films deposited via ALD have shown promise in suppressing parasitic reactions at the electrode-electrolyte interface and in mitigating degradation of electrode materials. This review focuses on recent advances in enhancing the long-term cycling performance and stability of Nickel-cobalt-manganese, Silicon based electrodes through ALD thin film coating.
