민족주의와 젠더: 도전과 변형을 위한 이론적 지형도 그리기

초록

This paper aims to examine the historical trajectories and theoretical debates on nation and nationalism. Specifically, the androcentric theories on nation/nationalism and then feminist challenges against them inside/outside Korea are explored. For understanding feminist venture to criticize hegemonic theories on nation and nationalism and to produce differential discourses from feminist perspectives, I analyze two representative feminist journals of Journal of Korean Women’s Studies and Women’s Studies Review. Throughout this paper, I would argue that feminist have carved out the androcentric space of theories and practices as revealing the way of denial and disappearance of ‘women’ and that we need to construct alternative meaning of women/gender not just within the discourse of nationalism but also in the (inter)national practices.
