수도권지역 남녀 청소년들의 정서행동특성에 영향을 미치는 요인

초록

The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with emotional and behavior traits for middle and high school students in metropolitan city in Korea. A non-experimental, cross-sectional study design was used. Participants included 1,068 students ranging in age from seventh to twelfth grade in a metropolitan city in south Korea. The major result of this study were as follow. First, the total score for the level of emotion and behavior traits was not statistically significant for either males or females. Of the subscales, ‘learning and internet’ were significantly high for the male students, while for the female students ‘concern and thinking’ and ‘feeling and suicide’ were significantly higher than for the male students. Second, multiple regression analysis showed that satisfaction with school life, happiness, and stress variables, for the male students, peers and family were the most influential factors and academic records were irrelevant. Meanwhile, for the female students, family, peers, and health were the main variables influencing emotional and behavior traits. The study findings suggests that efforts to address adolescents’ emotion and behavior traits are a necessary part of mental health enhancement programs in Korean middle and high schools. Gender differences should be taken into account when designing such programs.
