초록

For the past 40 years, research conducted by the Institute of the History of Christianity in Korea has centered on positive historiography on Christian national and social movements. The tasks while reviewing this are as follows. First of all, regarding the conceptualization of the Christian national movement, I would like to newly define it as “an organized practice carried out by Christians to solve the national problem in secular society”. In addition, since Christian social practice was not limited to solving ethnic issues, I would like to point out that the approach of Christian social movement may be more useful than the frame of Christian national movement. Next, regarding the recent trend of the March First movement study, I will present the need for a micro-historical approach to it and the typology of movement patterns through a comparative review of the accumulated regional case study as a future task. In addition, I would like to request the development of research on the history of women's movements based on feminism. It is also necessary to develop a methodology for research on the history of Christian social movements that can fully contain the realities of everyday realms and movements, away from the reductionism of national movement. Regarding the Christian democratization movement after the Liberation, it is necessary to continue to revive the research trend of the institute, which tried to encompass the international network of the movement, away from the perspective of national history. In addition, it is necessary to activate research on the participation of the Christian community in the June Democratic Uprising and the Unification movement, which are currently revealing the gap in research.
