탄소중립 시대 환경 엄격성과 TBT 환경규제가 우리나라 기계·전자·전기 수출에 미치는 영향

초록

As the discussion on carbon neutrality has recently expanded, importing countries are imposing sanctions on imported machinery, electrical, and electronic products in the form of technical tariffs (TBT). This study aims to empirically analyze the impact of environmental regulations and TBT environmental regulations in importing countries on Korea’s exports. The research method is to evaluate the impact of environmental regulations and TBT environmental regulations in importing countries on Korea’s exports from a nonlinear perspective by using the gravity model and PPML estimation method. The analysis results show that environmental regulations in importing countries have a negative impact on Korea’s exports, and TBT environmental regulations show an inverted U-shaped relationship. Accordingly, this study sheds light on the structure in which the environmental policies of importing countries have a substantial impact on international trade through TBT beyond domestic affairs, and provides policy and strategic implications for export competitiveness in the era of carbon neutrality.
