Effects of the Organizational Culture of Daycare Centers and Teachers’ Workplace Bullying Experiences on Turnover Intention

초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between organizational culture, workplace bullying, and turnover intention among childcare teachers, and to investigate the effects of workplace harassment on childcare teachers’ turnover intention. To this end, measures of organizational culture and workplace bullying on turnover intention. An online survey measuring organizational culture, workplace bullying, and turmover intention was distributed to childcare teachers in Seoul. A total of 229 responses were analyzed using Pearson correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results showed that childcare teacher’s turmober intention was positively correlated with hierarchical and rational organizational cultures, and negative correlation with group and development cultures. Turmover intention was also positibely associated with experience bullying. In addition, the strongest predictor of turnover intention was developmental culture, followed by work-related ostracism and personal attacks. These findings suggest that, in order to reduce turmover intention among childcare teachers, it is important to foster a workplace culture that emphasizes solidarity and peer support, and to cultivate a development culture that values and supports teacher’s professional growth. It is also necessary to closely monitor and intervene in cases of workplace bullying or aggression. Therefore, academic and institutional efforts are needed to prevent and address harmful organizational culture and workplace bullying in in order to promote job security among childcare teachers.
