As today's aging population progresses, health awareness and drug dependence are increasing. In particular, the elderly often take multiple drugs due to various chronic diseases, so it is essential to manage the administration time and precautions. This study raises the need to develop a drug supplement dispenser suitable for the elderly and proposes a design to prevent mistakes that may occur when taking drugs and to increase stability. The study analyzes the functions and characteristics of smart drug dispensers and suggests countermeasures against complex drug use. Major technical elements are summarized through domestic and international prior research and analysis of products released on the market, and five products such as Med-Q, e-Pill, Vaica, HiPee, and Memo Box are analyzed. As a result, four design elements are proposed to prevent drug misuse, which are visual guidance, auditory presentation, tactile compensation, and external interaction, and through this, we intend to solve the problem of drug use in the elderly. The results of this study emphasize visual, auditory, tactile alarm functions and portability in shape, color, and material, and contribute to improving the health management effect of the elderly and improving the quality of life.
